Presentation
Notre Dame de l'Assomption is the commune's parish church. It is a large edifice renowned for the quality of its white marble lintel, carved with a rose window and symbolically representing the evangelists: St Mark's lion and St Matthew's man.
We have no documentation on the initial construction of the church, but it has a Romanesque foundation. The central apse is the oldest part of the building, dating from the 13th century. It features a magnificent polygonal chevet decorated with three Romanesque windows, gear teeth, colonnettes and plant capitals. The nave, which collapsed in the 18th century and was completely rebuilt in the 19th, opens onto six chapels adorned with altarpieces and statues.
