Blue Flag

Sustainable tourism!

The international Blue Flag label is awarded to municipalities and marinas that pursue an ongoing policy of sustainable tourism development, with the aim of limiting the impact of tourism and maritime activities on the environment and conserving resources. Every year, the commune carries out environmental awareness campaigns.

Tourism and disability

An accessible destination!

This STATE mark provides objective, standardized information on the accessibility of tourist sites and facilities; it takes into account 4 categories of disability: auditory, mental, motor and visual. The Sainte Marie la Mer tourist information office has obtained the mark for all 4 categories in 2021.

Handiplage

The beach for everyone!

The central Agora beach has also been awarded the Handiplage level 1 label. The label is awarded to local authorities on the basis of four levels of criteria, "depending on an assessment of the site's equipment and facilities", ranging from simple "reduced mobility" access (to sanitary facilities and parking lots) to easy access for wheelchairs on the sand, not forgetting the aquatic sound system for the visually impaired. At Sainte Marie la Mer, a tiralo is available at the first-aid post, 3 parking spaces are reserved for the disabled, and a wheelchair ramp has been installed from the beach entrance to the sea.

Clean ports

Let's preserve our oceans!

European Clean Harbors certification is a voluntary approach to environmental management of marinas, based on environmental quality, protection of the marine environment, waste management and environmental awareness. The port of Sainte Marie was awarded this distinction in 2020.

A bicycle-friendly destination!

It's a national brand that guarantees a welcome, services and specific facilities adapted to the needs of cycling tourists along cycle routes in France. In Occitanie, the routes concerned are the Canal des 2 Mers à Vélo V80, La Méditerranée à Vélo EV8, Passa Pais V84. From Sainte Marie la Mer, follow the EV8! Sainte Marie la Mer was awarded the label in 2021.

The label for French wine-growing regions committed to quality hospitality!

Created in 2009, the Vignobles & Découvertes label is awarded for a period of 3 years by Atout France, on the recommendation of the Conseil Supérieur de l'Oenotourisme, to a wine tourism destination offering a wide range of complementary tourist products (accommodation, catering, cellar tours and tastings, museums, events, etc.), making it easier for customers to organize their stay and directing them to qualified services.
